Willy Walton's Chocolate Factory
Mackenzie and Emily went to the University on Saturday for a great program presented by SIFE - Willy Walton's Chocolate Factory. They learned all about different aspects of business including economics, finance, accounting, marketing, management, and business ethics.
Mackenzie's group (below) created a business selling Big Red Chocolates - Razorback shaped chocloate available with strawberry, cherry or caramel filling. Their factory is located in Little Rock, Arkansas. They get their cocoa beans from Mexico, milk from Arkansas, sugar from Brazil, strawberries from Arkansas and their cherries from Canads. They plan to sell Big Red Chocolate at all Razorback athletic games They will utilize trucks for transportation and the will never tell a lie (ethics).
Mackenzie had a great time and learned a lot. I'd buy Big Red Chocolate - wouldn't you?!

Happy Valentine's Day - A Day Late
Why a day late? Peyton's out of school this week and spent the night with a friend so she wasn't here yesterday morning. Mackenzie had school pictures and NO Valentine celebrating at school(this makes me so sad)...so we took a picture this morning.

"Peyton, please go pick your room up."
So,I thought I should find something to post here, even if it happened almost a year ago...Short story long, we all have been taking turns being sick and when I had my turn a couple of weeks ago, I got a lot of pictures organized into different files. One of Peyton's files is titled "Getting Out of Cleaning" and it contains the photos below. Peyton went through a phase (and when I say phase, I mean it happened three times over the course of about a month) in late Spring last year where she would fall asleep cleaning her room...where ever she happened to be cleaning...
...under her bed after I said "Peyton clean out under your bed."
...on the closet floor after I said "Peyton, pick up your closet."
...on her bed (halfway) after I said "Peyton, please go put away your clothes."
Each of these naps lasted 30+ minutes...I guess she really didn't want to pick-up!

Snow Day!
UPDATE - The girls played outside for almost 6 hours nonstop yesterday and it may be the same today. They only came in to switch out wet clothes for dry. It must be a super wet snow because their coats were soaked through and Peyton's hair looked like she just took a shower. I haven't gotten any pictures yet but the girls both took some...I'll try to post a picture off Mackenzie's camera later.

Mackenzie’s Check Up
Jason and I (Peyton didn't want to miss school) took Mackenzie to Little Rock last week for a check-up at ACH. She's gained 2 pounds, her lungs sounded clear. There were a few small changes in her Pulmonary Function Test but Dr. Warren said it was nothing he was concerned about. She is home sick today but I think it's with this stuff Jason, Peyton and I have been passing around for two months. I called Dr.Warren's nurse to make sure nothing had grown on her culture and there was nothing alarming. They did prescribe an antibiotic and extra treatments for a little while.
Please cross your fingers that we will get to see Dr. Warren in Lowell pretty soon. They are trying to get it set up where we can have her check-ups there (except for her annual which will still have to be done in Little Rock). The delay is that they have to have the Lowell CF Care Center set up EXACTLY like in Little Rock, including training on infection control. I'm just happy that when it does happen, we'll still get to see Dr. Warren because he'll be coming to NWA once a month to see his patients in this area.
While we were at her appointment I took a picture of Mackenzie and Dr. Warren. Mackenzie said I wanted it for my blog but I really just wanted to make sure I had a picture of the two of them because he is such a big part of her life – and of the quality of life she's able to have. His knowledge of cystic fibrosis and the care and communication he has with Mackenzie is everything we want and need.
