Our Snowflake

Peyton had auditions for the Moscow Ballet Nutcracker - they cast local dancers to be a part of their traveling production - today and she will be playing the role of a Snowflake. She'll be performing at the Civic Center in Fort Smith - which happens to be the same place I saw the Nutcracker when I was her age (or younger?). She'll go down tomorrow to learn the choreography. I'm so excited that she gets to experience this! Kendall got the part of a Party Girl: Peyton and Mrs. Beth:

Oh What A Day

Today has been a fun (but busy) day! We started the day off out at the new house meeting with our builder (Dave) and the heat and air guy (Josh). For anyone that's been on the edge of their seat waiting to hear how we are going to heat and cool our house, and there has to be a few of you considering the time we've spent discussing this and going back and forth about it, we've chosen (drum roll, please)...geothermal. I didn't' get to take a picture because they were working on the house fast and furiously so we can get the slab poured before concrete prices go up 30%. Maybe tomorrow we'll get one, I'm really trying to take pictures of the progress (link on sidebar).

I took off to go to a catalog party, left early, and met Jason and the girls at Peyton's soccer game. Then we met Chris, Ronna and Bella at Gusano's for lunch. We took them out to see the house and then went to their beautiful new house that they just finished and watched the Razorback game.

Jason wanted to go to Bikes, Blues & BBQ but I just wanted to come home after a long day so Chris went with him.

Theme Day

Both the girls had specific things they got to wear to school today. For Peyton it was black-out day for the Tigers (but for some reason she and a few friends thought they'd wear red so she has a Razorback shirt on under the Tiger shirt for more options). Mackenzie paid $1 to wear a hat. We were talking at Bunko the other night about uniforms and how easy it would be if the kids could only choose between a few things but I remember hating having to wear a uniform. My choices were a mix of navy or khaki skirts, jumpers or pants and red or white shirts (and they never looked as cute as they do on Gossip Girl :)).

With Grandpa

My Daddy is on week three of a two month visit to Vietnam and before he left we went to see him and I took this picture (not sure about that crazy sun spot). He's coming home on Election Day, I'm sure he's having a great time and one of these days maybe we'll go with him.

Happy Fall!

It's official! Today is the first day of fall - my FAVORITE season! Here are a few fall pictures from the past I found on the computer...

Lazy, Beautiful Sunday!

It was such a beautiful day today! Jason and I sat on the patio and researched, planned and picked windows for the house and Mackenzie pulled up a chair to read (Peyton played at Kendall's). I think Kenz was exhausted from a sleepover last night and fell asleep. I love her with Yellow One all cozy. Yellow One has been her blanket forever (it's really been through it, it was my brother's 22 years ago before it was Mackenzie's - as you can see it's been patched by Grammy), and has been a good friend to her. Peyton had "bebe's" (travel silkies) that she would click the seams on to comfort herself but she never uses them anymore.

Today's Newspaper

Charlotte submitted this to the paper (Peyton was thrilled to be in the newspaper - her first time)! We were so excited to raise so much for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and we are so thankful for everyone's support. I type this as Mackenzie (I'm so proud of that girl and her attitude in spite of this) does her treatment and I know because of everyone's kindness that someday she will live with treatmentless days! Mackenzie, who has cystic fibrosis, set the goal for her team to raise $ 10, 000 for the walk this year. Team Mackenzie raised more than $ 13, 000 — and donations are still coming in, organizers report. "

Sick Day - Sort Of

I snapped this picture of Peyton when we got to the doctor's office today. I just thought she was cute with that ice pack on her face. I took her in because her right eye has been bothering her, at night it's VERY red and puffy. Just allergies, of course. We were able to get our flu shots while we were there and I'm going to take Mackenzie in for hers after school (what a bad surprise!). I took Peyton back to school (after she picked Steak 'n Shake for lunch) so she didn't miss the whole day. She spent the morning before her appointment reading Anne of Green Gables - she loves it!

Waltz Into Fall

Last night was week two for Mackenzie and cotillion. She learned the Waltz (and can't remember the names of the other dances - I should have asked her last night!), manner lessons were on invitations and RSVP etiquette.

Buddy Walk

We went to the Buddy Walk today for the National Down Syndrome Society. We joined Team P.I.T. Crew - the team supporting Jason's co-worker's sweet girl Carly.

Chris Burke who played Corky Thatcher on Life Goes On performed with the Chris Burke Band...it was so fun when they sang "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da". I LOVED that show!

Jambodia

Mackenzie had a project for Social Studies where she had to create a country and map it out. Mackenzie's country is Jambodia (as you can see it's shaped like a "boom box"). Some of her cities include Beatville, Rapcity, and Tape Town. Her regions are the Piano Plateau, Blue Grass Valley, and "Rock"y Mountains. There is a CD Sea and Sound Wave Ocean. For recreation the people of the country of Jambodia head to the Eight Track Race Track. The train carries goods from Harmony Harbor via the Soundtrack and cymbals are made at the Heavy Metal Factory.

Dance & Soccer

Monday night the girls started fall activities! First night of dance and Peyton's first soccer game (the first game Saturday was rained out). My camera was acting up so I didn't get too many good shots (none came out from Mackenzie's class so I will take more next Monday). I snagged this one from Traci's blog:
Peyton and Kendall are on the same soccer team so Traci took both girls to the game and Mackenzie and I met Jason over at the fields when Mackenzie was done hip hoppin'.

Give Me a T

Jason and some of his fellow associates were invited in to give a check presentation at Rise and Shine this morning. They led the cheer and Peyton got to be the "T". A group from Cold Stone Creamery followed with a very entertaining show with ice cream throwing - I think the kids were a little more excited about that!

Mind Your Manners

After the walk Mackenzie and Madison went to Emily's house before their first night of Cotillion. They looked beautiful and I think they had a good time. They learned the Fox Trot, Bunny Hop and The Freeze and had a manners lesson on introductions. They worked up quite the appetite! They were great to agree to eat at Marketplace Express - key word "express" - so I could get back home before I dropped.

$62,000 Raised

I wanted to update since I didn't have a chance to when I posted the pictures earlier. Great Strides raised $62,000 (well, just under but I know we will hit it - I actually think we'll surpass it since I know some people are still wanting to contribute. We had a great time and the rain held off until right before we were going to finish up. Trent the DJ was great as usual (if you ever need a DJ - he is great and I can get you his information!). Spongebob was a hit (I had a great video of a lot of the kids dancing with Spongebob but I did that silly thing again where I didn't turn my phone right so it's sideways!), the kids area was fantastic, and the refreshments were yummy. There is so much more to say about the event but I can barely type I am so tired. I normally have a walk day nap but didn't have a chance today. Thanks to everyone that volunteered, came out, donated money and sent well wishes. We appreciate it greatly!
