It's In the Bag!

We rounded up a few helpers and got the participant bags for Great Strides filled. These kids were such hard workers and it didn't take any time at all even with tons of great stuff Charlotte secured to put in them. Look at the sea of green reusable bags ready for the walkers come September 6! Helpers Blake, Ben, Mason, Mackenzie, Madison, Elise, Jenna, Emily, Morgan, Ashley, Peyton, & Anna.

They were really going fast, look at Madison and Elise running in the background.
Thanks for all the help!

Over $4000!

Thank you all so much! Look for Mackenzie in the paper this Sunday (although I'm a nervous wreck because you never know how an article is going to turn out - but Bobby was so nice and seemed to really be touched by Mackenzie!).

Prayers for Baby Leighton

One of the girls wonderful dance teachers, Laine, is expecting her first baby boy Leighton. He's been diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and will require surgery when he is born. Leighton was expected to be born in October but he's wanting to come out early to see his Mom and Dad and they are at UAMS now. Please keep Laine, her husband Richard, and their baby Leighton in your thoughts and prayers. They are keeping everyone updated at their CaringBridge site http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/leightonharper .

Wildcat Welcome

We took the girls to a fundraiser at Peyton's school today - the Wildcat Welcome. I think they had a great time. Mackenzie spent a lot of time at the Jell-O eating contest, and Peyton spent most of her time at the inflatable slide. There were lots of other fun things to do - bounce houses, lunch, trucks to touch, snow cones, cotton candy, popcorn, dunk tank and so much more!

Here is Peyton with the school mascot.

Yummy! Snow Cones! Jason and I got to work the snow cone booth earlier in the day.

Say Cheese

Peyton had school pictures (with the faux fall we've been having it was a little easier than in the past to consider them fall pictures) today and we completely ran out of time! Can you tell her hair is still a little bit wet? The girl's schools are adjacent but Mackenzie's first class is as far away from where we drop off as you can get. Once she gets out of the car we have to make sure she has plenty of walking time!

Peyton has this hair that just kind of has body (I'm assuming it has something to do with that curly hair she had has a baby/toddler) with ends that flip out on their own so I'm really hoping it air dried nicely and the dispoable combs in the picture line were put to good use!

Mackenzie's First Day of 6th Grade

I can't believe she let us walk in with her AND take a picture. I know it's the last time I'm going to have the opportunity since she'll be going off to Junior High next year and I wanted to cry like a baby.

Wouldn't you know she forgot her lunch on the first day! Normally our rule is if they forget their lunch, I won't bring it up but since it's the first day I made an exception. It's also easy to just leave it with the nurse for her to pick up when she goes to get her pills for lunch.

Now, to get to all those things that have been waiting until "both kids are in school"....

Happy Birthday Ashley!

Today is Ashley's birthday and Friday night she had a "glamour" sleepover birthday party. Lots of makeovers, boas, jewels, and Kendra's high heels! Peyton had so much fun and Mackenzie got lucky enough to tag along to help. Peyton won the cash prize for first person to fall asleep. Here are their glamour shots (birthday girl Ashley, Peyton, helpers Emily & Mackenzie).

$2740 in One Week

WOW! Here is Mackenzie looking at all the nice comments from friends, family and complete strangers! She really was a happy girl and very surprised.

We will continue to try to make it to $10,000 but already feel like we’ve accomplished so much when we read your kind, encouraging and supportive words!

I DO NOT enjoy at all asking for donations but the thought of the alternative to not raising money is even worse! Thank you to everyone that is so generous! If you know anyone else that would like to still sponsor Mackenzie, please share her story!

Open House and a County Fair

Peyton starts school tomorrow and Thursday night we went to meet her teacher (Mrs. Lange), drop off school supplies, and fill out some paperwork. Peyton LOVES school and is so excited to start 2nd (!) grade.
After Open House, Peyton got all gussied up to go to a "County Fair", it was a celebration for the end of the VBS she had been going to with Kendall all week. They had County Fair Food - hot dogs, corn (on the cob, of course), pretzels, RC Cola, MOON PIES!, caramel apples - entertainment, pie judging (and auction), petting zoo. Peyton, Kendall & Drew (Kendall's cute little brother) below:
