Memorial Day Weekend 2011

Over Memorial Day weekend headed to our friends, the Fords for "Ford Fest", and had so much fun.  Yummy food, yard games and great friends.
We also had family and our future neighbors over to swim.  Here is my niece, Lexa:
Snuck this picture of Mackenzie reading...she doesn't like it but I love it:
Tate, I'm so excited for them to move in down the road in the Fall!

It was a nice, relaxing weekend!

Chemistry & Soccer

On Tuesday, May 26, Peyton had her TREC Showcase night - Chemistry Unit.  Peyton really enjoyed this unit. I asked her if it was something she might be interested in doing when she  "grew up" and she said no, that everything had pretty much been discovered (I disagree, it seems like they are discovering new things to put in hair products all the time).  I said "What about a cure for CF?", she said "They will already have found it by then!".  I love the way she thinks!
Teaching Jason all about the experiments...
 Dancing Raisins:
They were so nice to let us go to the Showcase Night a little early so we could make it to Peyton's last soccer game for this season - the tournament championship game.  It was the tournament that I thought was going to never end because we kept having rain delays that moved all the games.  I think we ended up playing this game about three weeks after the original date.  Peyton and Emmalee were heading over to the coin toss:

Sadly, the game ended in a loss after overtime and PKs.  It was only the second game the Breakers lost during the Fall and Spring Seasons.  We were go lucky to have great coaches, teammates and parents!

CPE Pet Parade!

It was Pet Parade at Peyton's school today.  Peyton decided to take Gizmo instead of Eddie, which I thought was the better choice after seeing all those doggies...I'm not sure Eddie would have behaved.  Gizmo was VERY well behaved!

For Mother's Day

In honor of Mother's Day, my CF Awareness Photo today is of the very first time I laid eyes on my (first) beautiful baby girl. She was born on Monday, July 21 1997... and this was the morning after, and, for only a moment before she got on the Angel Flight helicopter and was taken to ACH due to Meconium Ileus (one of the first signs of CF). I had to stay behind to recover from my c-section and was able to touch and hold her for the first time on Thursday. She had her CF sweat test and positive diagnosis at ACH on Friday, when she was 4 days old.

May 5 - CFF

Barely made it for my May 5th post!  I went to visit a friend who is at ACH with her son (check out their CaringBridge site) and it was a whirlwind trip.  Made it back in time to go to Peyton's 4th Grade Musical - 101 Dalmatians.  They did such a great job!  I plan to post a video soon.  After that, I came home to work on more wine bottles...we have another CFF event tomorrow night - Walk This Way with the Finest Fashion Show -  and they were wanting to use our Wine Opener bottles BUT I wanted to make new, blue bottles to match their decor better.  So, today's CFF Awareness post is that we think a positive aspect of CF is that we have the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  We think they do great things and I love they use the money that is raised so wisely.

Dr. Warren

Mackenzie sees her CF Team every three months, and Dr. Warren has been her pulmonologist since she was born. Dr. Warren is always so proud of the great job Mackenzie does in taking care of herself but he is never satisfied. He says the day he says he is satisfied, is the day we need to find a new doctor.

Treatment Time

If you add Mackenzie's CF treatment time up for one year it would be equal to her doing treatments 24/7 for almost the entire month of February (581 hours, or 24+ days).  Hard to wrap your mind around, I had to do the math several times!

The Power of Two

Ana and Isabel are speaking at our CF Clinic's 9th Annual Cystic Fibrosis Family Resource Day on Saturday. I've never been able to make it before but I am going to try my best to go because I want to meet them!!  Here is their Official Theatrical Trailer for The Power of Two!

Spring Break!

Since we didn't have prior vacation plans, the girls had to attend snow make-up days at school on the first part of Spring Break (Peyton had 15 classmates absent and Mackenzie had one class with 8 total students and one with 7). We wanted to do something during the abbreviated break, so Road Trip to Kansas City it was! Here are a few pics...
Finding something to do while Daddy shops at Cabela's:
Fun, fun store - Architectural Salvage! This is an old slot machine customers can give a "spin"!
Getting our creativity on at Kaleidoscope:
A little fun at Dave & Buster's
We took the long way home through Springfield and Branson for shopping and stopped at Lambert's Cafe for lunch. This is the home of the "throwed roll"! SO. MUCH. FOOD. Our server said when she was talking about the all you can eat that they want to make sure we were miserable...ha! That is the truth, I may not eat again...
These do not include pictures of the shopping. We stopped at a great place on the way up called Figgy Pudding and bought Mackenzie a table for her room. Just need to go back and pick it up this week. There was also a lot of READING this trip! Normally, Peyton is my reader but Mackenzie picked up a series she really liked and could not stop reading. She started reading The Hunger Games but then we stopped to get the last book in a Meg Cabot series (we went and bought Meg Cabot books after reading her wonderful piece on September 11). This gave me a chance to start The Hunger Games...but, then she finished the Meg Cabot series and I gave it back to her. She finished it last night so maybe I'll continue my very lazy day and go read now...

St. Patrick's Day Flashback Post

I didn't take any pictures of the girls today. Peyton wore green and white stripes and Mackenzie in her green "Kiss Me, I'm a Tiger" shirt (that is actually a Mizzou Tiger but we are meaning it to be a Bentonviille Tiger).

I did find these old pictures from St. Patrick's Day 2004! Where did my baby girls go?

Last...

...dance post for a while! I know you are so relieved! I hesitated to even post this one but at the competition this weekend we weren't allowed to take pics so I purchased these from their photographers and want to use them everywhere I can to get my money's worth! Ha!

I love how much my girls love dance. Lots of work and time for the competitive teams and they never complain. Mackenzie's last CF check-up was fantastic (PFT's were up, BMI "green zone" for the first time ever, and crystal clear lungs). Dr. W asked what she thought contributed to the positive results and she said "Dance"!

Here she is in Funhouse:
And, here is Peyton rockin' her solo:
And, in Tea Party:
