Fayetteville Square

We went to the square a little early this year - we normally go on December 2, the anniversary of the day Jason proposed but we met in Fayetteville for Matt's birthday so we decided to go ahead and enjoy the lights while we were there.

Happy Fall!

We went to take pictures with the changing leaves and this ended up being one of my favorites - playing in the leaves.

THANK YOU!

Thank you so much for generously supporting Mackenzie - year after year - with your love, thoughts, prayers, time, money and so much more.

Great Strides NWA 2007 raised over $56,000 that will be used for research. This research will lead to a longer (and better) life for Mackenzie and other cf patients.

Happy Halloween 2007!

We carved our jack-o-lanterns last night. The girls drew out the faces and Jason and I cut. Mackenzie's - top, Peyton - below.

Happy 7th Birthday Peyton!

WOW! I can't believe Peyton is SEVEN years old! It's red ribbon week at school and today they could wear a crown to show that they "are indeed a queen or king if you stay drug free" so it was fun that she got to wear a crown to school on her birthday. Jason and I are heading to have lunch with her and tonight we are taking her to get her ears pierced. She is very excited!

Hot Springs

Here are a couple of pictures from our trip to Hot Springs at the beginning of October. We went to the Mid-America Science Museum and I don't think it has changed at all from the last time I was there - when I was about Mackenzie's age. You can't tell how much their hair was sticking up because of the black background. The other picture is from downtown Hot Springs near the bath houses.

Hooray!

All the shows are back on! See you in the Spring! Just kidding (kind of), I have new pics and things to post on and will hopefully do that soon.

Mackenzie's 1st Day of School

MIDDLE SCHOOL! My baby is not supposed to be in middle school but she is and she loves it. She is so excited about changing classes, all of her teachers, and everything about it. It's been two weeks and she always has a huge smile on her face when I pick her up in the afternoon. She and Peyton are on different school calendars now (Mackenzie started two weeks after Peyton) but I think I'm really going to like having alone time with both of them. I can't believe she let me take a picture of her in her homeroom class on the first day...this may be the last year I'll be able to!

Peyton's 1st Day of School

Here is a picture of Peyton (with her teacher) on her first day of 1st grade (almost a month ago). She loves school so much she is sad when they have a break - even if it's only the weekend.
Okay, okay...I'm the worst blogger EVER! My goal is to update it very soon and then try to post once a week at a minimum after that...

This Week

Not too much to post from the past week. The girls have been visiting their grandparents since Monday - I'm heading to pick them up today. Last Friday night we went to the drive-in to see Ratatouille and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (Peyton thought she better sleep through this one). We had a fun time. I thought Ratatouille was so cute and found this recipe on goodyblog to make our own ratatouille this summer, I'm sure my own "little chef" Peyton will love helping to make it (if nothing else, she will love meticulously layering the eggplant, zucchini and squash).

Crazy

Well, I see what I have to look forward to this month when Mackenzie turns 10 - kidnapping babies and drunken police chases (that will actually come next year at age 11)! But hey, kids will be kids according to the kidnappers stepfather. He says there are a lot of kids doing the same thing and getting away with it. Really, the same thing? A lot of children are kidnapping other children?

It must be an Enid thing - just kidding Matt & Rachel!

Speaking of news, Happy 07-07-07!

ACH Annual Visit

We took Mackenzie to ACH on Thursday for her annual check-up. We take her every three months but at her annual she gets x-rays, blood work, etc. and we get to visit with the cf team - nutritionist, respiratory therapist, social worker, etc.. It was a great visit! There were no changes from last year on her x-ray, all her labs were "normal", and her lungs sounded good (he heard something around her throat but just suggested she cough more to break it up). She also gained three pounds since March (thank you 600 calorie scandishakes), putting her closer to the 50% BMI that is our goal because they have found cf patients at 50% BMI or greater have better lung function. It was definitely a relief to have a good visit especially since tomorrow will mark one year since her hospital admittance.

Whew, What a Day!

Welcome...it's been a busy day getting all of June into my new blog! You might want to scroll all the way down and click on "Older Posts" and start at the bottom of that page and work your way up because I have completed two pages of blogging today. Needless to say, I better go pick my house up a little bit and maybe now I can just post every once in a while.

Last Day of School - Peyton, Kindergarten Graduate

Last Day of School - Bye Bye 4th Grade, Hello Middle School

Here are pictures of Mackenzie on the last (in orange) and first (in yellow, August 2006) days of 4th grade.

Last Day of School - 4th Grade Walk

The girls' last day of school started with the the Fourth Grade Walk...thank goodness other Moms were better prepared with the Kleenex (and were willing to share). Since this is the last grade of elementary, the fourth graders walk through the halls saying goodbye to old teachers and friends while Green Day's "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" plays over the intercom.
