September 1-23

I can't believe how long it's been since I blogged! Not for lack of content but more for lack of time. What are some of the things that have been filling our time?

Peyton was selected to be on her school's newspaper staff. So cute! She is so excited. Anytime she is working on it - even at home - she has to make sure she is wearing her press pass. She is working on two big stories, one on the upcoming Tailgator fundraiser and one on some of our local parks. Fall is here - officially yesterday, but the weather lately has made it seem like it's been here for a while and I am LOVING it! My favorite time of year for so many reasons including - football! Here are my little Razorback fans on our first game day. We went to Tara's to watch the first game and Peyton had fun playing with Cadence:
Peyton started soccer. She's on the purple team and on the bigger fields this yearWe went to visit my Daddy before he left to go be with his father who is dying of cancer in Vietnam. My grandfather and I share a birthday (October 10 - he'll be 80). I know my Dad loves him so much and they didn't get to spend nearly enough time together.
Mackenzie started her second year of Junior Cotillion (and if anyone has a 50's style dress in a gray or black tone that would fit her let me know!):
Mackenzie also started Cross Country! I am so proud of her. I was near tears at her first meet when she crossed the finish line. So great for those lungs! Her pulmonologist has been encouraging her to run and when the opportunity came up this year Jason did what any loving Dad would do. He bribed her. Jason offered to pay her to participate since we knew how good for her it would be. I pointed out she would rather have a cell phone, so negotiations began. Until this year, we didn't think Mackenzie needed a phone (even if almost every other one of her peers had one). She kind of gave up asking for one and even came up with a little joke that she had an LG "Hand". Complete with a whole spiel to go with it. She still doesn't "need" a phone, but it worked and she agreed to run (and I have to say I have enjoyed her having one). But here is the GREAT thing, she actually ENJOYS it and Coach Barrett is so wonderful.
Can you find her? On the right.
Peyton also started running - she's doing Girls on the Run after school two days a week and will participate in a 5k in December. Yesterday she made me jog with her if I wanted to hear about her day. Hmmmm...maybe Jason and I should rethink this bribe thing....

Go Red!

Peyton's soccer season came to an end Saturday. They participated in the end of the year tournament, won their first two games and lost in the semi-final game and had their medal ceremony. Thanks Coach Jr. and Coach Brad for a great year!

Soccer Saturday

Yesterday was a beautiful day for a soccer game. I think I got a little bit of a sunburn! The team didn't play on their normal fields - they were quite a bit bigger (and no clumps to twist your ankle on). Peyton enjoyed the larger fields.

Soccer Showdown

Yesterday was Peyton's last soccer game for the fall (she'll start again in the Spring with the same team) and it was a game we've been waiting for all season. The coach of the dark blue team, Bob, works with Jason - their offices are right next door to each other - so we've been joking that this was going to be the big showdown. Thank goodness it ended in a 3-3 tie! Here is a picture of Peyton with Bob's daughter Emmalee after the game.

Dance & Soccer

Monday night the girls started fall activities! First night of dance and Peyton's first soccer game (the first game Saturday was rained out). My camera was acting up so I didn't get too many good shots (none came out from Mackenzie's class so I will take more next Monday). I snagged this one from Traci's blog:
Peyton and Kendall are on the same soccer team so Traci took both girls to the game and Mackenzie and I met Jason over at the fields when Mackenzie was done hip hoppin'.
