Happy Birthday, Jason!

Jason's birthday was yesterday and we were ready for him! Checked our Cozi app for a few things he had on his wish list and made his pie on Sunday since he likes his desserts "next day".  First off, I don't bake.  I love to make anything else unless it's baking.  This is an EASY Coconut Cream Pie and I can't tell you how many times I've messed this up!  Burnt pre-made pie crusts, burnt toasted coconut, etc. etc....But, I was patient and only had to make it once this time.
Our family date to celebrate Jason's birthday included a trip to a furniture store to look for a recliner.  We (I) have a lot of requirements for this recliner including 1) Small scale (there is only one spot where it can go) 2) Doesn't look like a recliner 3)Doesn't lean too far back.  Jason pretty much realized that he probably isn't getting a recliner.  If any of you know where we can get a very small scale recliner that doesn't look like a recliner, I'm open to suggestions!

Then we went to P.F. Chang's.  And, I was so confused the entire time!  WHY would Jason choose P. F. Chang's for his birthday dinner?  I thought he was joking all the way until we were actually seated and ordering!  He doesn't like Chinese food, or any other Asian foods (and he's married to someone who is half Vietnamese! His daughter gave up rice for Lent one year because she loves it so much! Hello!?).  Oh well, I enjoyed his birthday dinner and I got this pic of him and the girls afterwards:

Sisters, Weekend and Dance

Project "Get Back Into Blogging" starts now!

If you came over from Kelly's Korner, I have two girls - Mackenzie is 14 (and will be 15 very soon) and is in 9th grade, and Peyton is 11 and is in 5th grade.  I love being the Mom to two girls and am very lucky that they love each other and that so far the teenage years and preteen years have been good to me (knock on wood!).  I often joke that when I'm around boys that I find myself doing that head tilt thing since there are some things boys do that are so different than girls!

One of the things I love about having two girls is seeing the different mix of their personalities - some things are very similar and some things are complete opposite.  One is definitely more like me and one more like her Dad, but with a crazy combination of the other parent mixed in, too. They are three years, three months apart in age but four years apart in school so in our district they've only had one year where they were at the same school.

They are kind to still let me blog about them because in my mind they are still 1 and 4 or maybe 3 and 6 ,but, no way are they really 11 and 14!  It all goes by too quickly!

This past weekend we kicked off summer.  In March.  Crazy!  I've enjoyed the cooler temperatures we've had this week!  Mackenzie had a few friends over to swim before we kicked off a busy dance competition.
Peyton can now do her own HAIR and MAKEUP for competitions!  This makes me so happy because I am so bad at it!  I really don't know which I'm worse at.  Just when I do a bun or a poof and think I'm worse at the hair, I have to do a smokey eye and think I'm worse at make-up.  Thank goodness for the other Dance Moms and Peyton for helping with hair and makeup!
A few pictures from competitions, this Mackenzie in "Black & Gold" (jazz):

Mackenzie in her hip hop dance, "Don't Stop the Party":
Peyton, in her hip hop dance "Money":
Peyton in her jazz dance "Heartburn":
The girls were in a few dances together, this was from a tap that I LOVED! "Heads Will Roll", Mackenzie:
 And, Peyton:
This is a lyrical, "Grenade", that Peyton's in.  Amazing dance!:
Every year the girls get a "lil sis" at the dance studio and this year Mackenzie had two!  She hit the lil sis jackpot because they are so great, we love them. Mackenzie with Chloe and Olivia:
We LOVE Peyton's "lil sis", too!  Peyton is holding Abby, here.  That's Chloe and Abby's real life sister, Bella in the picture with them. Can you keep up?  There's a quiz later!
Instagram on my iPhone is one of my favorite apps (also available for Android users this week!), I thought it was so sweet when I went on Instagram and found this picture that Bella (in the picture above) had posted:
Made my heart so happy!
