The Power of Two

Ana and Isabel are speaking at our CF Clinic's 9th Annual Cystic Fibrosis Family Resource Day on Saturday. I've never been able to make it before but I am going to try my best to go because I want to meet them!!  Here is their Official Theatrical Trailer for The Power of Two!

Spring Break!

Since we didn't have prior vacation plans, the girls had to attend snow make-up days at school on the first part of Spring Break (Peyton had 15 classmates absent and Mackenzie had one class with 8 total students and one with 7). We wanted to do something during the abbreviated break, so Road Trip to Kansas City it was! Here are a few pics...
Finding something to do while Daddy shops at Cabela's:
Fun, fun store - Architectural Salvage! This is an old slot machine customers can give a "spin"!
Getting our creativity on at Kaleidoscope:
A little fun at Dave & Buster's
We took the long way home through Springfield and Branson for shopping and stopped at Lambert's Cafe for lunch. This is the home of the "throwed roll"! SO. MUCH. FOOD. Our server said when she was talking about the all you can eat that they want to make sure we were miserable...ha! That is the truth, I may not eat again...
These do not include pictures of the shopping. We stopped at a great place on the way up called Figgy Pudding and bought Mackenzie a table for her room. Just need to go back and pick it up this week. There was also a lot of READING this trip! Normally, Peyton is my reader but Mackenzie picked up a series she really liked and could not stop reading. She started reading The Hunger Games but then we stopped to get the last book in a Meg Cabot series (we went and bought Meg Cabot books after reading her wonderful piece on September 11). This gave me a chance to start The Hunger Games...but, then she finished the Meg Cabot series and I gave it back to her. She finished it last night so maybe I'll continue my very lazy day and go read now...

St. Patrick's Day Flashback Post

I didn't take any pictures of the girls today. Peyton wore green and white stripes and Mackenzie in her green "Kiss Me, I'm a Tiger" shirt (that is actually a Mizzou Tiger but we are meaning it to be a Bentonviille Tiger).

I did find these old pictures from St. Patrick's Day 2004! Where did my baby girls go?

Last...

...dance post for a while! I know you are so relieved! I hesitated to even post this one but at the competition this weekend we weren't allowed to take pics so I purchased these from their photographers and want to use them everywhere I can to get my money's worth! Ha!

I love how much my girls love dance. Lots of work and time for the competitive teams and they never complain. Mackenzie's last CF check-up was fantastic (PFT's were up, BMI "green zone" for the first time ever, and crystal clear lungs). Dr. W asked what she thought contributed to the positive results and she said "Dance"!

Here she is in Funhouse:

White Rabbit

Last night Peyton's school had a performance. Their Ballet Company and Children's Choir presented Alice in Wonderland. Peyton sang a few songs with her school's choir. This was the only picture we were able to get where it didn't look like she was eating that girl's hair bow:
Look at this great picture:
This was when the choir was leaving the stage BUT, it really was like this during the entire performance. I gave up on recording because all I had were silhouettes of people standing and walking. There was also A LOT of talking throughout the night. I understand young children talking but there were older children talking (and parents weren't asking them to stop). I guess you can't expect them to understand manners when there were parents having full conversations in regular voices. I loved hearing the parent - very far away from me - asking their child if they wanted to go potty. Of course they do, they want to be a black silhouette on everyone's video recordings. Even Mackenzie was so annoyed at a Nintendo being played with full volume. Okay...rant over...

After the choir performance the ballet started. A woman at the school teaches ballet at no cost to any of the students who want to participate. Peyton didn't take it because she is so busy with her regular dance classes but I really wished she did while watching the performance! First off, Mr. Havner, Peyton's principal is the best - he had the role of the White Rabbit.
The set was amazing! And the performers were wonderful.

Dance America/Dance Olympus - Kansas City

Friday we headed to Kansas City for a dance competition. We checked into the hotel and raced over to the Music Hall for Peyton's solo. We watched some dances, then grabbed dinner at Cosentino's Market (Downtown location) - I had to post a link because Cheyenne was sooooo nice to fire bake our pizzas even though they were shutting down.

Some girls came over to play Apples to Apples during Mackenzie's treatment and after she was done, a few girls tried it out. Little Molly was the cutest thing, she was laughing so much and making the most hilarious sounds while she was vibrating. The front desk had to ask us to turn the "music" down.
Peyton's first group dance on Saturday was Blessed (Lyrical).
Second group dance was Tea Party (Hip Hop).
The girls were both in Funhouse (Jazz).
This is Mackenzie and her KDA Little Sis, Alyssa:
Peyton and one of her dance teachers, Arissa.
Peyton and her KDA Big Sis, Cori.
Mackenzie's second group dance, Girl Talk ( Hip Hop).
Mackenzie's third group dance, Love & Hate (Lyrical).
Mackenzie and Peyton with their actual sister. Ha!:
After a looooooong 12 hour day we finally got to eat. Fran's was yummy!
Today the girls spent the day learning a lot at the dance convention and I got to shop at all the stores we don't have.

We had a great girls weekend. I'm even looking forward to getting on the scale tomorrow after all the walking and stair climbing I did. I may have to market the Dance Mom Diet (for optimal results leave your husband at home, that makes for even more trips back and forth hauling lots of things!).

Next weekend they have another competition but it's here in our town.
