Let's Dance!

Our Saturday was almost entirely devoted to the art of dance! The girls had dress rehearsal all day followed by the recital. Peyton had to be on stage to practice at 8:35, Mackenzie at 10:40 and both at 2:30. The performance started at 4. If we weren't in the car driving back and it was time for changing, make-up and hair. At one point we stopped at Walmart (for "beauty shop" supplies of course) and ran into a friend that was a little thrown off by the made up faces!

Rehearsing (video is below, that's Mackenzie during the "What has he done for you lately?" part).

Kendall and Peyton got their certificate for their Cecchetti exams.
I was so sad for Emily! She dislocated her knee during a softball tournament a couple of weekends ago and couldn't dance.

Kelly's Korner Kid's Rooms

Kelly from Kelly's Korner has been hosting a weekly "Show Us Where You Live" and I haven't participated yet because even though we've moved into the new house, it's still very undone! And even when I get everything unpacked and put away, it's going to take a very long time to finish everything. But, I love it and I know I'm here forever so it's fine to take my time!

This week it's Kid's Rooms and although the girl's rooms aren't finished, I thought they were far enough along to go ahead an post some pictures. That, and some friends (Sheila!) has been asking for pictures. So here we go...
Peyton's room - we still need a bedskirt and I'd like to find something for the foot of the bed (in the pink color). Also a bed with a headboard and different bedside tables - those are glass topped and scare me (if she accidentally rolls off the bed...I know she's 8 but I still worry!). She also has a corner for a chair.

Mackenzie's Room - She also has temporary side tables and needs a headboard. Where I'm standing to take the picture she'll have room for more furniture. We'll also need to get things out up on the walls....

Touch a Truck 2009

A few pictures of Peyton from Touch-a-Truck (Mackenzie was at a sleepover).
Building with Home Depot is always fun!
Last time I ever want to see this:
I'm glad we got to go even if it was just for a little while sandwiched between Peyton's soccer tournament and Mackenzie's softball tournament. It is a fun event!

Go Red!

Peyton's soccer season came to an end Saturday. They participated in the end of the year tournament, won their first two games and lost in the semi-final game and had their medal ceremony. Thanks Coach Jr. and Coach Brad for a great year!

A New School

With the move to the new house Peyton will be changing elementary schools for the next school year. Since she was on a break from the non-traditional calendar and the school she is going to is on the traditional calendar she was able to go spend a few hours there last Thursday. Mrs. Beckham was so nice to let her sit in during her class and when we got there Peyton was greeted by two of her friends - Avery (a friend from preschool) and Sydney (a friend from dance). She also saw other friends from preschool, dance and soccer so I think it will be a pretty easy transition for her. She stayed for lunch and recess and when I picked her up we went on a little tour, and took a pictures on the stairs (that's a change from ETE).

Pops on the Lawn

On May 11, Mackenzie had an orchestra concert. It was a beautiful day to be out on the lawn of Old High. She gave the violin a try and has decided not to continue next year but I'm glad she got to have one year to learn.

Songs of Hope

On May 7, Mackenzie had her final choir concert at SHMS and it was my favorite! Wonderful songs sang by a great group.

I'm laughing at Mackenzie's jeans all rolled up - she gets so hot up there and tries to say as cool as possible to not start coughing during the concert.

ElecTRECity

On May 5 we went to TREC Showcase Night where Peyton got to share what she's been doing this semester. Wow! I think we could have saved some money if we had Peyton wire the house! Here she is with her "Candy Room" with working lights and fan that she wired.
On the left below is a game she made. When you make a correct match the light glows.
Sharing her journal and showing us how it's done:

"A"nother "A"wards "A"ssembly

On May 1st, Peyton had her third quarter awards assembly. I am so lucky to have a girl that LOVES school so much.

I'm Back!

We finally got cable hooked up today and after being without for almost a month I was about to lose my mind. Thanks to all the businesses that offer free wifi and for generous friends for letting me sit at their houses to check e-mail, bank accounts, etc. I didn't want to outstay my welcome so unfortunately, I didn't take the time to catch up on all the blogs, facebook, twitter...

Hopefully in the next few days I can catch up with you all and get a few things posted! I'm so glad to be connected again!
