School's Out For Summer (For Peyton This Time!)

Yesterday was Peyton's last day of school. Thanks Mrs. Burrow for a great year! This picture was taken right before Peyton walked out of the doors for the last time as a first grader (that's a dog face-painted on her cheek).
The first graders celebrated with an end of the year party. They had different stations - here is Peyton at the water balloon toss.

I'm Flippin'!

I'm SO excited about my new toy! It's a Flip Video Camcorder thingy...SO much fun. Very easy to use for quick recording. It won't replace my camcorder (it only holds 60 minutes of video and doesn't zoom in very far) BUT it will replace my cell phone or Peyton's camera which I found myself using to get short videos a lot (plus so much more room) and it will take better videos than my cell phone. Also, it has a USB arm that connects the recorder directly to the computer for easier uploads, etc.! All of you moms with toddlers and babies have to get one!

This is a video of Eddie as soon as I opened the box (the girls weren't home)...I took it out popped in the batteries, and started recording:

This video is of the girls as soon as we pulled into the driveway after I picked them up...I kind of put them on the spot...I can't help it, I love things like this and I was excited...

Wildcat Dad

Jason was a Wildcat Dad at Peyton's school on Monday. A few of the things he did: helped Mrs. Burrow take things down from her walls, played hopscotch, pushed kids on swings, and helped print certificates for the awards ceremony. Peyton was so excited to have her Dad at school!

Silent Auction

I was just going looking at the media card from Peyton's camera to get everything ready for the girl's recital tomorrow and came across these pictures from Memorial Day weekend...we had a nice family weekend and the girls came up with something for us to do: Play Silent Auction. They came up with items, set it up, gave us bidder numbers - everything. It was so much fun, as was using our items we bought. Jason won the "air mattress, popcorn and movies" so we watched a movie on a big pallet in the living room and ate popcorn that night.

Wow.

Not even two weeks into June and I've posted 8 times...I'll try my best to keep it up...

Donuts With Dad

Jason was so lucky and got to take Peyton to school this morning and stay for "Donuts With Dad" - a little Father's Day celebration. No, it wasn't the "Father's Day Beer", but it was still a very special time to have with Peyton.
He got a little story too:
My dad is the most wonderful dad in the world!
His name is Jason.
He's as strong as a gorilla.
He is 33 years old.
He has brown eyes and brown hair.
My dad likes to eat hamburgers.
His favorite clothes to wear are razorback t-shirts.
My dad and I like to go canoeing.
I think Dad is funny when he comes home.
But I know he's really angry when I don't clean my room.
I wouldn't trade my dad for a jeep.
I love my Dad because he's mine.

Thunder & Lightning

Saturday we took took the girls to ride horses (Thunder & Lightning) at their Grammy and Papa's house. They had such a good time Jason took them back on Sunday. They also got to "drive" (steer) Papa's truck around in the pasture. These were the horses Jason and Lance had when they were around Mackenzie's age - we think...when you ask Jason and Lance how long they've had them they say "since they were born"...but I think Deloris said they've had them for about 20 years.

WOO HOO!

Have you all been saying extra prayers and making extra wishes for Mackenzie? We got a call today that she would have an appointment at the new Arkansas Children's Hospital Clinic in Lowell in July. We've had problems with the Appointment Center before so of course I questioned it since it will be her annual and because of the extra testing we thought we had to wait until October to start having a convienient 30 minute round trip instead of a 6 hour round trip drive. I had to follow up with Dr. Warren's nurse to be sure they were correct and they were! We get to do the annual appointment in Lowell! Now let's hope for a great check up!

Tutus and Talent

Last night was Peyton's school's big talent show! There was NO way Peyton was not going to participate this year. She really wanted to do it last year but her class didn't do an act and by the time I realized, it was too late for me to come up for something for tryouts (so everytime Mackenzie would practice last year, Peyton would tear up).

This year as soon as they sent home the information for talent show I e-mailed Mrs. Burrow to see if she was having a class act and she was so nice to agree to do something. Peyton's Hip Hop dance instructor Laine came up with a cute dance and the kids learned it so quickly. Mrs. Burrow had the great idea for what the kids could wear and I helped make the tutus.

They were so cute dancing last night! After the talent show we went to Johnny Brusco's for pizza and home to crash on the couch after a LONG day!

Wal-Mart Shareholders Meeting

Mackenzie went to her first Wal-Mart shareholders meeting this morning and had a good time except for the "boring" parts. It didn't help that where we were sitting the sound was mumbly. I always enjoy the shareholder meeting - even the non-celebrity portions because I'm a nerd like that. It was fun to see David Cook - you know my favorite on American Idol!, Tim McGraw, Queen Latifah, Joss Stone and "Louise from St. Louis" Jennifer Hudson. Mackenzie waved to David Cook as he walked off the stage and he waved in our general vicinity, but she'll say he waved to her!
We didn't get as up close and personal with Tim as Sheila did - check out her post from when she went to a Tim McGraw concert...be sure to read the comments, I love what he said about roofing!

"Mom, it's not a snapping turtle it's a scratching turtle!"

I think I found a way to get Peyton out of bed in the mornings, arrange to have various critters in the front yard every a.m. It is so hard to get Peyton up in the mornings. Mackenzie will set her alarm for 5:40, shower, dress, treatment and about 7am I am doing that thing with Peyton - begging her to get out of bed, taking off all the covers, etc. This morning when Jason left for work about 6:30 he told her there was a turtle in the front yard and she hops right out of bed, picks up the turtle (gets scratched a little bit), poses for a photo op, and then gets ready for school - she was there right when the doors opened.

School's Out For Summer (For Mackenzie)

Here is a picture from Monday of Mackenzie when she got in the car on her very last day of fifth grade. On the last day they had a cookout and watched a movie. She's already having a fun summer...Emily slept over Monday night and Mackenzie slept over at Morgan's last night. Although we loved the non-traditional calendar, I think Mackenzie is really excited to have a LONG summer break.

Talent Show, Fun & Field Day

School is winding down - tomorrow (Monday, June 2) will be Mackenzie's last day. There is always so much going on on the final days of school. Friday morning Mackeznie and friends performed in the SHMS Talent Show. They danced to "Defying Gravity" by Freddy. I tried to get it on video to post on the blog but I didn't get it. I wasn't too worried since we bought the DVD. I was very impressed by all the talent those fifth and sixth graders had. Oh, and the teachers too! Mackenzie's team teachers were great!

Mackenzie & Peyton's dance teacher Laine was so nice to come up with the dance and I could not believe how quickly they picked it up!

After the Talent Show, Mackenzie had to change into her team t-shirt for Fun & Field day (moved from Tuesday due to the rain) and had a fun day playing with friends. This is a picture of Mackenzie and Alyssa.
