Whew, What a Day!
Welcome...it's been a busy day getting all of June into my new blog! You might want to scroll all the way down and click on "Older Posts" and start at the bottom of that page and work your way up because I have completed two pages of blogging today. Needless to say, I better go pick my house up a little bit and maybe now I can just post every once in a while.
Last Day of School - Peyton, Kindergarten Graduate
Last Day of School - Bye Bye 4th Grade, Hello Middle School
Last Day of School - 4th Grade Walk
The girls' last day of school started with the the Fourth Grade Walk...thank goodness other Moms were better prepared with the Kleenex (and were willing to share). Since this is the last grade of elementary, the fourth graders walk through the halls saying goodbye to old teachers and friends while Green Day's "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" plays over the intercom.
Mrs. Robertson's Surprise
Have you seen the commercial for Bounty paper towels where the Mom reads the note that her son needs 60 cupcakes for the next day? Mackenzie came home and told me she had signed up to bring Chex Mix and balloons for a surprise birthday party the class decided to throw for Mrs. Robertson. "About how many balloons?" I ask. "I was thinking 30," was the reply. Well we made the Chex Mix (opened the package and poured it into a bowl), and settled for a small bouquet of balloons. She also said everyone was going to wear purple (Mrs. Robertson's favorite color), a clothing color she does not own. We went out to get a gift for Mrs. Robertson and stopped by Old Navy and found this perfect shirt - purple with the words "I've got a secret!". Well the party was a success, Mrs. Robertson was very surprised and I was very impressed with the party that was completely organized by 4th graders!
Safari
All of the kindergarten classes went to the Safari on a field trip. It was a fun day. Peyton's favorite part was petting the animals, especially the Kangaroos (thank goodness she didn't get bit like one of the girls in her class). Mrs. Gauthier put together an end of the year DVD with pictures from throughout the year that included pictures from this trip. She had taken some on the bus ride back to school - all the kids had fallen asleep! It was the cutest thing, she said Peyton and the two girls she was sitting by were all holding hands. Peyton's story was that if they slept they would get extra recess time but I think they were all really worn out (because I know I was).
Rise & Shine, Square
Project
Peyton had a "family project" - isn't it nice they just go ahead and call it a family project, so it's no big deal if you can tell that someone over the age of 6 had a big part in getting it done? - at school. Here it is...she actually did quite a bit of it herself (cut the clay, painted it, wrote the names on the flags).
Talent Show
Peyton's Dance Recital
Friday, June 22, 2007
Wow - I've resisted posting for 1 month and a day. Okay, not so much resisted - just haven't seemed to have a moment to work on it. But the girls are out for summer (today was their last day) and now I have all the free time in the world (ha ha). What all has happened since May? Recital, Talent Show, Kindergarten Celebration, 4th Grade Walk, Soccer, Softball and the list goes on and on. I did get a new camera for Mother's Day and will hopefully get new pics up soon. (I know you are thinking "new? - how about ANY?") but you know once I get going on this thing it will become an obsession (think along the lines of office supplies and television shows).
